Frankly, it is very hard for me to believe that this guy, Stephen J. Spinner, would even consider joining a number of other top fundraisers for the Obama campaign at the Democratic National Convention, and receive a VIP tour of the convention itself. Spinner, if you recall, was reported to be, and, as emails have confirmed, heavily involved in the U.S Government’s ill-fated financing of Solyndra, a California solar panel firm that later wound up in bankruptcy. You would think that he would like to remain out of the spotlight. Apparently not.

And, does it surprise you that this former high-level Energy Department official is still actually a major fundraiser for the Obama campaign. Didn’t Obama promise during his 2008 campaign that this sort of relationship would NOT be allowed in his administration? Oh, well!
Kudos to ABC News for reporting upon his appearance the other evening, and, especially, for trying to have an interview with Spinner himself, even though their attempt was unsuccessful.

ABC News commented that “Steven J. Spinner joined other top fundraisers for a VIP tour of the Democratic National Convention floor in Charlotte Monday evening, posing and waving for a photographer while standing behind the podium. When he saw ABC News cameras, however, he ran for the exit.”

“Spinner was last in the headlines in October, when emails surfaced showing he had pushed for the Solyndra loan from his post in the Energy Department, apparently in an effort to score the loan as a political victory for President Obama.”

“This is not Spinner’s first foray into fundraising for Obama. Spinner was awarded his high-ranking post with the Energy Department after raising more than $500,000 for Obama’s 2008 campaign, according to data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.”
