Observations and Thoughts about the Democratic Convention
CNN Fact Check: About Those 4.5 Million Jobs … – CNN “Anyone watching the Democratic National Convention heard the number 4.5 million several times. … While that is indeed a gain of 4.5 million, it’s only a net gain of 300,000 over the course of the Obama administration to date. The private jobs figure stood at 111 million in January 2009, the month Obama took office. … The figure of 4.5 million jobs is accurate if you look at the most favorable period and category for the administration. But overall, there are still fewer people working now than when Obama took office at the height of the recession.”
Some Obama Programs Embellished and Exaggerated by Democrats – Associated Press “Speakers at the Democratic National Convention portrayed President Barack Obama’s presidency in glowing terms Tuesday evening, but sometimes left out important details or embellished his record. Others mischaracterized programs backed by Republican challenger Mitt Romney and GOP running mate Paul Ryan.”
Where’s Al Gore? – Politico “In 2008, Al Gore strode onto the stage at Denver’s Invesco Field to a hero’s welcome, throwing his support behind Barack Obama to take on the ‘global climate crisis.’ When Obama takes the stage this week, Gore will be nowhere in sight. … Gore’s evolution over the past four years — from a central figure in the Democratic Party to a no-show at its biggest event — matches what has happened to the issue of climate change itself, which moved to the sidelines alongside its chief crusader, environmentalists and some Democrats say.”
Democratic National Convention Rejects Christian Gift Baskets – Fox News “The Democratic National Committee banned dozens of Charlotte churches from distributing gift baskets to delegates because the congregations hold values that are contrary to the party platform, according to local religious leaders. Benham said it’s no surprise that the Democrats have now removed God from their party platform. ‘The Democrats have spit in the face of God they spit in the face of unborn children,’ Benham said. ‘They spit in the face of marriage. They are spitting in God’s face. Americans need to rise up and see to it they have their day and are escorted out of power in this country.’”
