Poll: Nearly 100 Percent of US Agree, Illegal Immigration a ‘Problem’ – Newsmax  …  “An overwhelming majority of Americans believe illegal immigration is a problem, according to a survey by YouGov. Ninety-two percent of respondents called illegal immigration a ‘problem,’ with 77 percent calling it either ‘very serious’ or a ‘somewhat serious’ problem. According to the poll, taken September 1-2, half of those surveyed said they would report an employer they suspected of hiring illegal immigrants. Just more than half, 52 percent, said they support a pathway to citizenship if illegal immigrants are currently in the country “if they pass background checks, pay fines, and have jobs.”

US Faces Big Challenge in Protecting Pope – Newsmax  …  “The FBI worked well in arresting a 15-year-old in Philadelphia in an allegedly terrorist-inspired plot to attack Pope Francis on his visit to the United States next week, but ‘this is like a magnificent goalie trying to stop penalty kicks,’ retired Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden told Newsmax TV on Tuesday. ‘If we have to do this at this end and try to detect everyone before they step up into violent action, we are bound to fail sooner or later,’ Hayden, who directed both the CIA and the National Security Agency, told ‘Newsmax Prime’ host J.D. Hayworth.”

“‘This is one time where the physical application of power is necessary to win the ideological fight,’ Hayden added. ‘In other words, to point out on the ground these guys neither represent the will of God nor are they the hand of God because they’re being defeated.’ As the pontiff plans his trip, the nation’s intelligence operations have some gaps — making the task of protecting him even more difficult, he said.”

Report: 32 Million Americans — Already Christmas Shopping… – CNBC  …   “Whine and moan all you want, but the Christmas creep isn’t going anywhere. In fact, two separate surveys released Tuesday indicate that a slew of consumers actually embrace retailers’ ever-earlier holiday push, with many having already started—and in rare cases, already finished—purchasing their holiday gifts. The first study, conducted by CreditCards.com over Labor Day weekend, found that roughly one in seven, or 32 million Americans, have already begun buying for the holidays. The study also found that 2 percent of all consumers—accounting for about 4.6 million people—have already crossed everything off their list.”

“The second survey, issued by digital advertising technology firm Rubicon Project, found that an even more robust one-third of shoppers across the U.S., UK and Canada have already kicked off their holiday spending. ‘We love to complain about stores putting up holiday displays earlier and earlier each year,’ said Matt Schulz, senior industry analyst at CreditCards.com. ‘But the truth is that millions of Americans start holiday shopping long before the first Christmas tree appears in a store.'”
