Nobel Panel Saw Obama Peace Prize as ‘Mistake,’ New Book Claims – Washington Times … “The former director of Norway’s Nobel Institute revealed this week that he regrets the committee’s decision to give the 2009 Nobel Peace award to President Obama. Geil Lundestad, director at the institute for 25 years, said in his just-published memoir that he and the committee had unanimously decided to grant the award to Mr. Obama just after his election in 2009 more in hopes of aiding the American president to achieve his goals on nuclear disarmament, rather than in recognition of what Mr. Obama had already accomplished. Looking back over Mr. Obama’s presidency, Mr. Lundestad said, granting him the award did not fulfill the committee’s expectations.”
“‘Even many of Obama’s supporters thought that the prize was a mistake,‘ Mr. Lundestad said. In the book, he expressed regret that the decision had been based in a hope for the future rather than recognition of past accomplishments, and that their expectations for Mr. Obama were not fulfilled.”
TrumpMania: GOP Debate Sets CNN Ratings Record – Breitbart … “Regardless of how well you think Republican frontrunner Donald Trump performed at Wednesday night’s CNN debate, there is no question he is generating unprecedented interest and excitement. Last night CNN earned its highest ratings ever. I could make a joke here about that not being a high bar but the network wasn’t always a ratings failure and that makes this record rather remarkable.”
“This kind of sustained interest and excitement is good for the overall Party. Now that the RNC has taken some control over these debates, the process is not the horror show it was last time. By September of 2012, there had already been around a dozen debates and 200 questions that were designed only to keep Obama in the White House.”
Interior Secretary Refuses To Testify On EPA Toxic Mine Spill – Daily Caller … “Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell is refusing to testify before Congress about her department’s ongoing investigation of the massive toxic mine spill caused by EPA workers last month. Despite an invitation Republican lawmakers to get Jewell to come before the committee Thursday to testify on the Interior’s investigation, the former CEO of REI has declined. Instead, Jewell’s staffers sent an unsigned statement to House lawmakers. ‘Despite nearly every one of its agencies having jurisdiction over lands impacted by the spill and responsibilities to uphold for impacted communities, including tribes, Interior has been nearly invisible in the wake of the spill,’ Wyoming Republican Rep. Cynthia Lummis told The Daily Caller News Foundation in an emailed statement.”
“The Interior Department has been tasked with releasing a technical report on the EPA-caused mine spill in August where agency contractors accidentally unleashed 3 million gallons of wastewater into Colorado’s Animas River. But the department has largely been silent on its probe into the Gold King Mine spill. Interior told House lawmakers they “would be happy to provide the [lawmakers] with a briefing of that report after its release,” according to the statement to the House provided to TheDCNF by the department. Their response has only frustrated lawmakers. ‘Right now, the public is being left in the dark. Refusing to appear before the committees and failing to even offer to send a representative on the department’s behalf is deeply concerning.'”
COMMENT: Once again, one should ask why the Republican leadership is being so kind to the Secretary of the Interior by issuing an “invite to appear” before their committee. They should and still can issue a subpoena for her to appear, as part of their efforts to get tough with these various Obama administration minions, particularly those, who have lied or caused substantial damage!
