Trump Plan Cuts Taxes for Millions

Donald Trump Making a pointBy Monica Langley and John D. McKinnon

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump unveiled an ambitious tax plan Monday that he says would eliminate income taxes for millions of households, lower the tax rate on all businesses to 15% and change tax treatment of companies’ overseas earnings.

Under the Trump plan, no federal income tax would be levied against individuals earning less than $25,000 and married couples earning less than $50,000. The Trump campaign estimates that would reduce taxes to zero for 31 million households that currently pay at least some income tax. The highest individual income-tax rate would be 25%, compared with the current 39.6% rate.

Mr. Trump’s plan appears designed to help him, as the GOP front-runner, cement his standing as a populist—though that message is complicated by the fact that the billionaire, like other Republican leaders, would eliminate the estate tax.

“My plan will bring sanity, common sense and simplification to our country’s catastrophic tax code,” Mr. Trump said in an interview. “It will create jobs and incentives of all kinds while simultaneously growing the economy.”

To pay for the proposed tax benefits, the Trump plan would eliminate or reduce deductions and loopholes to high-income taxpayers, and would curb some deductions and other breaks for middle-class taxpayers by capping the level of individual deductions, a politically dicey proposition. Mr. Trump also would end the “carried interest” tax break, which allows many investment-fund managers to pay lower taxes on much of their compensation. Read More..

High-Tailing It Out of Blue States

Illinois leaving a sinking ship from www.caglecartoons.com # 168180By Stephen Moore

The so-called “progressives” love to talk about how their policies will create a worker’s paradise, but then why is it that day after day, month after month, year after year, people are fleeing liberal blue states for conservative red states?

The new Census data on where we live and where we moved to in 2014 shows that the top seven states with the biggest percentage increase in in-migration from other states are in order: North Dakota, Nevada, South Carolina, Colorado, Florida, Arizona, and Texas. All of these states are red, except Colorado, which is purple.

Meanwhile the leading exodus states of the continental states in percentage terms were: Alaska, New York, Illinois, Connecticut, New Mexico, New Jersey, and Kansas. All of these states are blue, except Alaska and Kansas.

The latest Rich States, Poor States document (which I co-author) published by ALEC, the state legislative organization, finds that nearly 1,000 people each day on net are leaving blue states and entering red states. This migration is changing the economic center of gravity in America — moving it relentlessly to the South and West.

In 2013, Florida gained $8.2 billion in adjusted gross income from out of staters. Texas gained $5.9 billion — in one year. Five of the seven states with the biggest gains in income have no income tax at all: Florida, Texas, Arizona, Washington, and Nevada. New York was again the big loser with another 112,236 tax filers leaving and taking $5.2 billion with them. Read More..

Europe Faces Cultural Disaster As Refugees Pour In: “A Direct Threat to Our Civilization”

Welcome to Europe refugees from www.caglecartoons.com # 168869By Max Slavo

The tide of refugees from Syria and elsewhere has already been disastrous for the people who lived there and now seek another home. But the disaster is just beginning for Western Civilization. Today, the major front is Europe. But it is happening in America, too, and someday it might be too late. A demographic shift is happening so sharply in the UK, France, Germany and other European nations that it could hardly be called anything but a takeover.

The war hawks overplayed the ‘Muslim extremist’ card in the days after 9/11 when terrorism dominated every headline and nearly every political discussion. Hypocrisies devastated innocent lives, wasted money and ran America’s reputation and morale into the ground. But meanwhile, the cultural enemy was being brought home, through waves of immigration.

Zero Hedge warns that Europe is “heading for disaster” with regard to the immigration tidal wave:

Nigel Farage Warns Immigrant Flood “Threatens Our Civilization”

“We are heading towards disaster” exclaims UKIP’s Nigel Farage in this brief clip. Having warned for months about both the consequences of actions and the EU’s disastrous policies, the flood of immigrants, Farage warns “we face a direct threat to our civilization if we allow large numbers of people from that war-torn region into Europe.” Simply put, he fears within EU policy “there is no way to filter out extremists in favor of people fleeing in genuine fear of their lives,” and suggest following the Australian policy.

Though there is genuine sentiment for those displaced by a war torn region, the Western authorities have staged a clash with culture at the ideological and cultural level. Read More..

Average NYC School Janitor Makes $109K a Year

WAIMH Red ArrowBy Thomas Lifson

There’s just not enough money for education, right?  Did you know that in Japan, Taiwan, and other countries whose students outperform American public schools by orders of magnitude, there are no janitors, and the kids do cleanup of the schools?  Not our kids.

Aaron Short in the NY Post:

School custodians are cleaning up — in the hallways and in their paychecks — because the city doesn’t want to hire enough of them.

Custodians took home an average pay of $109,467 in the 2013-14 school yearand 634 of the city’s 799 custodians earned more than $100,000 in salary and overtime during that time, city payroll records show.

That’s because of the city’s 1,500 school buildings, 238 have no full-time custodian on site, up 74 percent from the 137 empty slots in 2012, according to data from the custodians union.

The arrangement is forcing nearly one-third of the city’s 737 custodians to cover two schools — and reap additional pay. Read More..

Democrats Threaten Shutdown for Higher Spending

Media blames GOP for government shutdown by Gary McCoy, Cagle CartoonsBy Phil Kerpen

Congress has just  returned from vacation with the clock rapidly ticking toward a government shutdown because of a deliberate strategy adopted by Senate Democrats to block all of the bills that fund the government. Their goal? To renege on the Budget Control Act, the historic agreement capping discretionary spending that both parties agreed to and President Obama signed in 2011, and go back to irresponsible, runaway federal spending.

Democrats have been open, even boastful, about their strategy. Harry Reid announced it in June in a splashy story on the liberal website Politico. The Senate’s top Democratic appropriator, Barbara Mikulski, went on the record, saying: “The president will veto bills at this allocation, and Democrats will vote against motions to proceed to these bills on the Senate floor.” The allocation she was referring to was the spending levels both parties and the president agreed to that are now, by law, binding caps. Reid put it more plainly: “We’re headed for another shutdown.”

Got that? Democrats want to shut down the government if they can’t spend more money than they themselves agreed to on the EPA, the IRS, HHS, and all the rest of the vast, wasteful federal bureaucracies. It would be tragic for the country if Democrats succeed because the Budget Control Act caps are working. Read More..

Unemployment from www.caglecartoons.com # 168487By Ron Paul

Reports that the official unemployment rate has fallen to 5.1 percent may appear to vindicate the policies of easy money, corporate bailouts, and increased government spending. However, even the mainstream media has acknowledged that the official numbers understate the true unemployment rate. This is because the government’s unemployment figures do not include the 94 million Americans who have given up looking for work or who have settled for part-time employment. John Williams of Shadow Government Statistics estimates the real unemployment rate is between 23 and 24 percent.

Disappointingly, but not surprisingly, few in Washington, D.C. acknowledge that America’s economic future is endangered by excessive spending, borrowing, taxing, and inflating. Instead, Congress continues to waste taxpayer money on futile attempts to run the economy, run our lives, and run the world.

For example, Congress spent the majority of last week trying to void the Iranian nuclear agreement. This effort was spearheaded by those who think the U.S. should waste trillions of dollars on another no-win Middle East war. Congressional war hawks ignore how America’s hyper-interventionist foreign policy feeds the growing rebellion against the dollar’s world reserve currency status. Of course, the main reason many are seeking an alternative to the dollar is their concern that, unless Congress stops creating — and the Federal Reserve stops monetizing — massive deficits, the U.S. will experience a Greek-like economic crisis.

Despite the clear need to reduce federal spending, many Republicans are trying to cut a deal with the Democrats to increase spending. These alleged conservatives are willing to lift the “sequestration” limits on welfare spending if President Obama and congressional democrats support lifting the “sequestration” limits on warfare spending. And Now It Begins

Game Over financial collapseBy Monty Pelerin

And now it begins –the long-awaited financial collapse! The domino effect is not underway yet, but a preview of what is coming can be visualized. Detroit, Greece and Puerto Rico are harbingers of what faces many, if not most, political jurisdictions. Common to all is political legerdemain, lying and promises made that never could be fulfilled. All that differs is the degree of harm already inflicted and a jurisdiction’s ability to hold out.

Economics and mathematics are required to determine the downward spiral that most government entities have boxed themselves into. Economics tells us why there is not, nor will there be, a recovery. Mathematics tells us the hole is now so deep that there is no way out without massive defaults on debts and promises. Throw a bit of public-choice theory in and it all seems inevitable.

The three defaults mentioned above do not signal a domino effect. They are early warning signs, however, of what lies ahead. There is little similarity among the three entities other than the common element of political excess. Excess is a universal tendency of the ruling class of any democratic regime. It is independent of culture, language, religion, etc. It is the way that plunder is achieved and office is retained. Read More..

SHOCK: Illegal Alien Crime Accounts for Over 30% of Murders in Many States

Illegal immigrants crime mediaBy Tom Tancredo

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump deserves credit for forcing all 17 Republican candidates to talk about the social costs of illegal immigration, but it is not “Trump’s issue.” We will be making a fatal mistake if we let the media discuss it that way.

As Ann Coulter has pointed out, this is the most critical issue of the 2016 race because this is the issue that will define whether or not there will even be an American nation recognizable as the “home of the free and land of the brave.”

But illegal immigration is not “Ann Coulter’s issue” any more than it is “Tom Tancredo’s issue.” It is America’s issue — not only because it will define America in the 21st Century but because it also defines American elections and who will be voting in elections in 2020 and beyond. It also illuminates the power of the mainstream media to keep issues off the national stage.

Think of illegal immigration this way: If the liberal media can keep illegal alien crime out of the “kitchen table debate,” they can keep any issue out of the debate. And they will if they can get away with it. For those reasons, illegal immigration is much more than an issue of public policy; it is the poster child for media malpractice.

The media’s attempt to suppress public awareness over illegal alien crime and the effects of illegal immigration on American workers’ jobs and wages is nothing less than censorship on a massive scale. We need to start talking about it in those terms and hold the media accountable for the lack of ethical standards. Read More..

The Next Big Civil Right: Living On The Street

Posted on August 28th, 2015

Homelessness NickelsvilleBy Betsy McCaughey

America’s homeless are lawyering up to fight for a “right” to live on the street, your neighborhood and personal safety be damned.

From Fort Lauderdale to Denver to Los Angeles, cities are struggling with a surge in people living in cardboard boxes and doorways. Local lawmakers are trying to ban “camping out” in public spaces and ordering police to clear the fetid encampments.

But lawyers for the homeless are pushing back. They’re demanding that “sleeping rough” be legally protected. In Denver, where living on the street is outlawed, lawyers for the homeless want the law changed to guarantee vagrants “the right to use and move freely in public spaces without discrimination.”

Outrageously, the Obama administration is siding with the vagrants against local governments. This month, Obama’s Justice Department is trying to block Boise, Idaho’s ban on sleeping in public spaces. Cities around the country are worried that their own laws may be next. Read More..

How Obama Transformed America

Obama yelling, speakingBy Phil Gramm

His progressive legacy won’t last because he passed vague laws and abused his executive power to impose policies that are unpopular.

How did Barack Obama join Franklin Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan to become one of the three most transformative presidents in the past century? He was greatly aided by the financial crisis that erupted during the 2008 campaign. This gave the new president a mandate and a large Democratic congressional majority that fully embraced his progressive agenda.

Having learned from previous progressive failures, President Obama embarked on a strategy of minimizing controversial details that could doom his legislative efforts. But no factor was more decisive than his unshakable determination not to let Congress, the courts, the Constitution or a failed presidency—as America has traditionally defined it—stand in his way.

Americans have always found progressivism appealing in the abstract, but they have revolted when they saw the details. Read More..
