Wikileaks Release of TPP Deal Text Stokes ‘Freedom of Expression’ Fears

Wikileaks has released what it claims is the full intellectual property chapter of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the controversial agreement between 12 countries that was signed off on Monday.

TPP was negotiated in secret and details have yet to be published. But critics including Democrat presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, unions and privacy activists have lined up to attack what they have seen of it. Wikileaks’ latest disclosures are unlikely to reassure them.

… Michael Wessel was one of the advisers who was asked by the US government to review what he said were woefully inadequate portions of the document. Wessel said the thrust of the TPP does nothing for Americans. “This is about increasing the ability of global corporations to source wherever they can at the lowest cost,” he said.

… Obama has pledged to make the TPP public but only after the legislation has passed. Read More..

Obama Will Be the Only Person Sticking to Iran Deal

Tick Tock Iran DealBy Amir Taheri

Sometime this week, President Obama is scheduled to sign an executive order to meet the Oct. 15 “adoption day” he has set for the nuclear deal he says he has made with Iran. According to the president’s timetable the next step would be “the start day of implementation,” fixed for Dec. 15.

But as things now stand, Obama may end up being the only person in the world to sign his much-wanted deal, in effect making a treaty with himself.

The Iranians have signed nothing and have no plans for doing so. The so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has not even been discussed at the Islamic Republic’s Council of Ministers. Nor has the Tehran government bothered to even provide an official Persian translation of the 159-page text.

“Obama won’t do anything that might jeopardize the deal,” says Ziba Kalam, a Rouhani adviser. “This is his biggest, if not the only, foreign policy success.”

Nor have Britain, China, Germany, France and Russia, who were involved in the so-called P5+1 talks that produced the JCPOA, deemed it necessary to provide the Obama “deal” with any legal basis of their own. Obama’s partners have simply decided that the deal he is promoting is really about lifting sanctions against Iran and nothing else.

The Obama deal may end up as the biggest diplomatic scam in recent history. Read More..

Pleasant Surprise! U.S. Officials Conclude Iran Deal Violates Federal Law

Posted on October 9th, 2015

Iran deal survives Republican attacks Obama from www.caglecartoons.com # 168776By James Rosen

Some senior U.S. officials involved in the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal have privately concluded that a key sanctions relief provision – a concession to Iran that will open the doors to tens of billions of dollars in U.S.-backed commerce with the Islamic regime – conflicts with existing federal statutes and cannot be implemented without violating those laws, Fox News has learned.

At issue is a passage tucked away in ancillary paperwork attached to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, as the Iran nuclear deal is formally known. Specifically, Section 5.1.2 of Annex II provides that in exchange for Iranian compliance with the terms of the deal, the U.S. “shall…license non-U.S. entities that are owned or controlled by a U.S. person to engage in activities with Iran that are consistent with this JCPOA.”

In short, this means that foreign subsidiaries of U.S. parent companies will, under certain conditions, be allowed to do business with Iran. The problem is that the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act (ITRA), signed into law by President Obama in August 2012, was explicit in closing the so-called “foreign sub” loophole.

Indeed, ITRA also stipulated, in Section 218, that when it comes to doing business with Iran, foreign subsidiaries of U.S. parent firms shall in all cases be treated exactly the same as U.S. firms: namely, what is prohibited for U.S. parent firms has to be prohibited for foreign subsidiaries, and what is allowed for foreign subsidiaries has to be allowed for U.S. parent firms.

What’s more, ITRA contains language, in Section 605, requiring that the terms spelled out in Section 218 shall remain in effect until the president of the United States certifies two things to Congress: first, that Iran has been removed from the State Department’s list of nations that sponsor terrorism, and second, that Iran has ceased the pursuit, acquisition, and development of weapons of mass destruction. Obama Needs to Stop Talking Trash

Putin Syria Bully Obama Kerry from www.caglecartoons.com # 169515By Mike Ford

In an article in Politico on October 2 titled, “Obama’s Trash Talk,” Edward-Isaac Dovere writes regarding President Obama’s statements at that day’s press conference:

“Putin, meanwhile, is just a liar,” Obama said, “a silly, weakened, ridiculous liar, as anyone could see.” Obama smacked away statements the Russian president made in public and in private in their Monday sitdown. He even did a double shot of mine’s-bigger-than-yours, tearing into the size and growth of the Russian economy and noting with pleasure that though Putin seemed confident in his America-bashing, Assad-supporting address to the General Assembly in New York, “I didn’t see after that speech at the United Nations suddenly that 60-nation coalition we have lining up behind him.”

Trash Talking is fine when your name is Muhammad Ali and you have not only the ability, but also the willingness to use your fists to win the day. If your name is Barack Obama and you are President of the United States, you may have the ability in the form of the world’s finest military, but the willingness and intellect to back up your trash talk with effective actions just isn’t your forte.

Trash talking without substance to back it up appears to be a common theme with President Obama. We all can recall his comment to Governor Mitt Romney during the presidential debates, when Romney opined that Russia might be the biggest threat to the United States and world stability. Obama snarked back, “The 1980s called and they want their foreign policy back.” Recent events have proven Governor Romney right and President Obama’s trash talk to be ill informed and out of place. Russia, led by President Vladimir Putin, is indeed a threat and growing more so each day.

More recently, when queried about the potential of ISIS to cause major disruption in Southwest Asia, President Obama referred to them as a “JV Team.” That “JV Team” appears to have gotten the full attention of two major powers and a host of not-so-major ones. Again, the president’s trash talk is not in line with the facts on the ground or his own actual performance. Read More..

A Climate of Delusion. President Obama Tries One More Time to Make Global Warming Cool

Posted on October 9th, 2015

Climate change hoax, not scienceBy Washington Times

President Obama’s globalist rhetoric captured hearts at the United Nations but it will take more than hot air to make global warming cool with anyone but the easily fooled. Like the rooster that thinks his cock-a-doodle-doo makes the sun rise, Mr. Obama touts the notion that the president of the United States can command the forces of nature that made the planet hospitable before the human race was born. He knows he can’t do that, but he might pick the pockets of the prosperous to pay for a fantasy.

The president unveiled the climate change agenda of his globalist manifesto in all its unwrapped purple. “All of our countries will be affected by a changing climate, but the world’s poorest people will bear the heaviest burden from rising seas and more intense droughts, shortage of water and food. We will be seeing climate change refugees.”

Apart from computer models that have proved notoriously inaccurate, there is little evidence that the earth’s climate is changing in ways that will trigger the sort of mass migration that the dictators and warmongers have compelled. Now that more than 18 years have passed since global temperatures have budged even an inch, it is clear that “sustainable development,” the keystone of a “green” utopia, is not dependent on the earth’s weather climate but rather on its political climate.

The president argues that carbon-dioxide emissions will bring on climate change catastrophe and he has obligated the United States to enact his Clean Power Plan. Emissions-reducing rules are expected to reduce global temperatures by only 0.03 degrees Fahrenheit by the turn of the next century, at an annual cost estimated to range between $5 billion and $41 billion. In similar fashion, the U.N., which has none, is attempting to shame the developed nations into paying $100 billion a year into its Green Climate Fund for redistribution to poor countries for renewable energy projects. The Bankruptcy Of The Planet Accelerates – 24 Nations Are Currently Facing A Debt Crisis.

Posted on October 7th, 2015

Dominoes fallingBy Michael Snyder

There has been so much attention on Greece in recent months, but the truth is that Greece represents only a very tiny fraction of an unprecedented global debt bomb which threatens to explode at any moment.  As you are about to see, there are 24 nations that are currently facing a full-blown debt crisis, and there are 14 more that are rapidly heading toward one.

Right now, the debt to GDP ratio for the entire planet is up to an all-time record high of 286 percent, and globally there is approximately 200 TRILLION dollars of debt on the books.  That breaks down to about $28,000 of debt for every man, woman and child on the entire planet.  And since close to half of the population of the world lives on less than 10 dollars a day, there is no way that all of this debt can ever be repaid.  The only “solution” under our current system is to kick the can down the road for as long as we can until this colossal debt pyramid finally collapses in upon itself.

As we are seeing in Greece, you can eventually accumulate so much debt that there is literally no way out.  The other European nations are attempting to find a way to give Greece a third bailout, but that is like paying one credit card with another credit card because virtually everyone in Europe is absolutely drowning in debt.

Even if some “permanent solution” could be crafted for Greece, that would only solve a very small fraction of the overall problem that we are facing.  The nations of the world have never been in this much debt before, and it gets worse with each passing day. Read More..

Obama Versus Putin — Golfer and Caddy

Posted on October 5th, 2015

Putin, Obama, Golfer, CaddyBy Monty Pelerin

Obama versus Putin is a mismatch. One so seriously overpowers the other that it is not a contest. Some have likened the Obama versus Putin comparison as small-town bully versus Big City Bully. Others have suggested that Putin is playing chess while Obama is playing checkers or marbles.

This site used this golf image a few years ago to define the relationship between Obama and Putin. The image illustrated the difference in abilities between the two. Subsequent events, particularly this week in Syria, validate the golfer and caddy roles. It Obama versus Putin were a boxing match, the referee would have stopped the fight before this point. But how do you employ a “mercy rule” in geopolitics. Chamberlain versus Hitler did not end until the entire world had suffered.

This country is in deep trouble and has been for several years. It should be obvious, even to Obama supporters, that their man is incompetent. He is being manhandled by Vlad. If you want to know why the Republican primaries are favoring outsiders, think of how Republicans have been snookered by this incompetent.

The dullards who refused to see the Community Organizer as a fraud during his first term are dwindling. Those who still support this clown are probably hopeless. Read More..

France Threatens “Outright Termination” of TTIP Corporate Trade Negotiations

Posted on October 5th, 2015

TTIP CorporatocracyEDITOR’S COMMENT: Maybe the fight over this awful, middle-class-devastating treaty isn’t over after all. Obama was able to bambooozale the U.S. Congress but several other nations are resisting for different reasons. France seems to be a big obstacle at the moment.

By Cassius Methyl

In a recent development with multinational trade agreements, France threatened to walk out on Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations this week. France is frustrated with the United States’ unwillingness to budge on issues, most notably the issue of secrecy within negotiations.

France’s junior trade minister, Matthias Fekl, is threatening “outright termination” of France’s involvement in the partnership, saying “total lack of transparency” in negotiations constitutes a “democratic problem.”

In an interview on Monday with French newspaper Sud-Ouest, Matthias Fekl said,

Europe has offered many compromises, in all areas, and has received no serious offers from the Americans in return. Neither for access to their public markets, nor for access to their agricultural and food markets, which remain closed.

According to Fekl, the United States must modify their position or face consequences. One of their main concerns is that the deal is highly secretive. According to Fekl, U.S. officials have access to more information than European officials and there is a serious lapse in communications. Read More..

On Syria, Obama Plays Tiddlywinks, Putin Plays Chess

Putin at the United Nations, Obama from www.caglecartoons.com # 169469By Investor’s Business Daily

The White House was “surprised” by a new intelligence-sharing pact among Iran, Syria, Russia and Iraq to fight the Islamic State. But given their own actions, anyone else could have seen it coming.

For the Obama administration, there’s always a surprise when it comes to the Middle East. Having pulled out of Iraq before Iraq was ready, they were taken unawares by the Islamic State’s rise. Now Russia’s strategic moves to be the big dog on the block in the Mideast have thrown them for another loop.

Russia has forged an alliance with Syria, Iran and Iraq to share intelligence to destroy the Islamic State — without inviting the U.S. The pact has a powerful moral rationale, given the monstrosity of the enemy and the U.S. lack of will to fight. But it also will permanently extend Russian power in the region, something that Russia had under the USSR but that is also a longstanding imperial ambition dating back to the days of Vlad the Great.

What we are seeing here is the totally predictable outcome of a U.S. victory thrown away.

No matter how much Obama blames former President Bush or Syrian dictator Bashar Assad for the current shambles in the Middle East, the facts on the ground remain: Our military was on the cusp of victory after a painstaking process of engagement, but the entire effort was discarded for the far cheaper aim of pulling troops out and calling the pullout “peace.”

Instead of stabilizing Iraq and making it a bulwark against Iran and a beacon for the other Middle Eastern states, there was just the Obama administration’s self-delusion of “peace” with few U.S. troops around. Read More..

An Unteachable President

Posted on October 1st, 2015

Obama, Kerry, Putin at United NationsBy Bret Stephens

For Obama, it isn’t the man in the arena who counts. It’s the speaker on the stage.

Barack Obama told the U.N.’s General Assembly on Monday he’s concerned that “dangerous currents risk pulling us back into a darker, more disordered world.” It’s nice of the president to notice, just don’t expect him to do much about it.

Recall that it wasn’t long ago that Mr. Obama took a sunnier view of world affairs. The tide of war was receding. Al Qaeda was on a path to defeat. ISIS was “a jayvee team” in “Lakers uniforms.” Iraq was an Obama administration success story. Bashar Assad’s days were numbered. The Arab Spring was a rejoinder to, rather than an opportunity for, Islamist violence. The intervention in Libya was vindication for the “lead from behind” approach to intervention. The reset with Russia was a success, a position he maintained as late as September 2013. In Latin America, the “trend lines are good.”

“Overall,” as he told Tom Friedman in August 2014—shortly after ISIS had seized control of Mosul and as Vladimir Putin was muscling his way into eastern Ukraine—“I think there’s still cause for optimism.”

It’s a remarkable record of prediction. One hundred percent wrong. The professor president who loves to talk about teachable moments is himself unteachable. Why is that? Read More..
