Failure Is Woven Into the Fabric of Obamacare

Obama speaking to Catholic Hospital Association

By David Catron

Obamacare’s apologists, tired of being laughed at for claiming “it’s working,” have adopted a new talking point that they hope will produce less mirth. They now claim the law is such an integral part of our health care system that it is no longer susceptible to repeal or even revision. As President Obama recently put it, “This is now part of the fabric of how we care for one another.… This is health care in America.” This is a perfectly absurd claim to make about a law that has been in effect for only a year and a half.

The President’s assertion is particularly ridiculous considering that Obamacare isn’t yet fully in force. Some of its major provisions, the employer mandate for instance, have only been partially implemented. Others, like the “Cadillac tax,” won’t go into effect until the President is conveniently out of office. These facts have not, of course, prevented Obama’s media sycophants from parroting the party line. The New York Times chimes in thus: “The Affordable Care Act… is now fully woven into the nation’s social fabric.”

A medical metaphor involving “metastasis” would be more accurate. Obamacare is metastasizing throughout our medical delivery system, much as a malignant carcinoma spreads through a cancer victim’s lymphatic system—with more or less the same result. It is killing the health care system with which the majority of Americans were satisfied and is replacing it with a Byzantine morass of regulations and taxes that, as the Washington Post reluctantly reported last week, enjoys the tepid support of only 39 percent of the public.

There is no mystery concerning the cause of Obamacare’s anemic support. It has failed to live up to the grandiose promises made on its behalf by the President. Indeed, in most cases, the “reform” law has produced precisely the opposite effect the public was encouraged to expect. Obama pledged that the law would bend the cost curve down, for example, claiming the average family would save $2,500 annually. Instead, it has actually caused premiums and deductibles to go up for millions, a trend that is expected to continue. Read More..

A Reminder: Democrats Are The Only Ones Responsible For The Chaos Of Obamacare

Posted on June 22nd, 2015

Obama signing ObamacareBy David Harsanyi

If the Supreme Court decides that there will be no more retroactive legislating and upholds Obamacare as written, terrible things will happen to America. No doubt, you’ve heard some of them. We might, for instance, find out what health insurance in fabricated, state-run “marketplaces” actually cost.

Insurance plans in federally run exchanges already cost 650 percent more than consumers pay. The difference is picked up by taxpayers. Kaiser estimates that the 37 states that have declined to set up exchanges will see an average spike of 287 percent should the King v. Burwell decision not go the administration’s way. A ruling that only proves exchanges have not made insurance markets more competitive or more affordable, as promised.

And you know who’s to blame for that, right?

It’s widely contended that the GOP has some kind of obligation to rescue Obamacare—whether for moral reasons or for self-preservation. In addition to the administration’s postion, Connecticut’s Sen. Chris Murphy actually stood on the Senate floor with a “shruggie” symbol to criticize the GOP for not formulating a plan in response to King v. Burwell. This is would be the equivalent of Sen. Ted Cruz demanding Democrats come up with a strategy to resuscitate the Defense of Marriage Act. It is preposterous. Read More..

Obama - No Idea What Im DoingBy Alan Caruba

The Wednesday, June 10 Wall Street Journal headline at the top of the page was “Obama Set to Expand Troops in Iraq.” We were 589 days into the two terms Barack Hussein Obama has served in the office of President of the United States and he is as clueless now as he was when he arrived on January 20, 2009.

“President Barack Obama is poised to send hundreds more American advisers to a new base in a strategic Iraqi region to help devise a counterattack against marauding Islamic State militants, U.S. officials said Tuesday, a shift that underscores American concern over recent battlefield losses.” It’s 450 “trainers.”

We have had losses because (1) Obama was elected on a promise to end the conflict in Iraq and (2) reelected by pulling out troops to the point that the remaining Iraqi troops—Shiites in the south—decided it wasn’t worth dying for their leaders. Can’t say I blame them, but dying at the hands of ninth century Islamic fanatics is the fate that threatens the entire Middle East, not just Iraq or what’s left of it.

This is how we lost the war in Vietnam. There was a time when Americans utterly destroyed their enemies on the battlefield. In the latter half of the last century, starting in Korea, we forgot how to do that and why that’s how wars are won. Read More..

The Battle of Washington. Hillary Has a Size-of-Government Fight on Her Hands.

President Barack Obama and Sec. of State Hillary Clinton in the Oval Office.By Daniel Henninger

Republican activists strapping on body armor for the impending presidential campaign may get what they’ve been itching for—the Battle of Washington. That would be the long struggle between Big Government and whatever remnants of individual liberty haven’t disappeared inside the federal maw of rules, laws, programs or prosecutions.

To conservatives this is the Leviathan state, an opponent normally thrashed in 400-page books. In real life, the federal Leviathan simply expands annually. This election could be different, with the fight over the size of government finally ending up in the streets.

… After defeating the Clinton organization in 2008, the progressive left finally got full control of the Democratic Party. There is no chance they will let Mrs. Clinton even glance toward the center in the next 19 months. The Democratic left didn’t like the Clintons in 2007 and still doesn’t. Read More..

Obama Looking in a MirrorBy Noemie Emery

President Obama, wrote the Washington Post’s Greg Jaffe in a recent story about the president’s view of his country, articulates “his vision of a nation that can acknowledge and, learn from, its mistakes.” Would that this vision applied to himself.

Not only does Obama never learn from mistakes, he doesn’t think that he makes them, and he denies that they even exist. Any regrets for the way he passed healthcare? Not that you’d notice. Any regrets about leaving Iraq? Nope — he still thinks he “ended two wars,” which the other side keeps on fighting.

The conventional view of what has gone wrong — that Obama lacked experience, and that first-term senators should be viewed with suspicion — is undercut by the fact that he has had six years of experience, and failed to learn from it. At home and abroad, Obama makes mistakes over and over, with the same result, and takes nothing from them. He disses his friends, placates aggressors and seems surprised that aggressors advance and whole regions catch fire. Read More..

ObamaFail: Affordable Insurance Rates Set To Skyrocket Up To 50%… Again

Posted on June 3rd, 2015

Dollar bills and medical needleBy Max Slavo

Remember when the American people were told that insurance would be free for the poor and affordable for the middle class? You know, back when we had to wait for the Affordable Care Act to be passed before we found out what was in it?

Within weeks of the program finally launching Americans saw an immediate jump in their monthly health insurance premiums – up to a quadrupling for some families.

As it turns out, insurance providers aren’t done yet. Apparently, quadrupling your rates just wasn’t enough to cover the health care costs for the millions of people who are paying absolutely nothing into the system but continue to receive the benefit of expensive prescription drugs and costly increases in medical procedures.

As a result, by the end of this year you will see your monthly premiums skyrocket, in some cases as high as 50%: Read More..

Obama’s Economic Disaster

President Obama LaughingBy Alan Caruba

Commenting on the rioting in Baltimore, the Wall Street Journal’s Daniel Henniger was almost to the end of his text when he said “On Wednesday morning, the year’s first-quarter GDP growth rate came in—0.02%. Next to nothing. For the length of the Obama presidency, with growth significantly below norm, unemployment for blacks aged 24 and younger has hovered between 30% and 40%. That’s the real powder key, not the police.”

Most Americans do not put the state of the economy at the heart of everything else is occurring. Instead they listen to politicians apply the blame to everything other than themselves. President Obama spent his entire first term blaming George W. Bush for the bad state of the economy he inherited, but instead of addressing it, he increased it by imposing ObamaCare, radically altering how many would be hired while others were cut to a part-time status. The bill added a number of taxes as well. Read More..

Free Trade Bill Is a Sham

Posted on May 26th, 2015

Free trade billBy Monty Pelerin

The Free Trade bill is a sham. Virtually every title that Washington puts on a bill, any bill, is deceptive and designed to make it more palatable to voters. So-called “free trade” bills are notoriously deceptive. There has never been a true one and this one is merely another in a long line of shams.

How do you know? A reasonable question because only a handful of people have been allowed to see the bill and I was not one of them. There are two reasons I feel confident in my assessment. First, decades of mislabeling routinely occurs with Washington legislation. Political leopards don’t  change their spots.

Freetrade Agreements

The second and more important reason is an understanding what free trade means. This bill, as has been the case with all other claimed free trade bills, is too long. The bill is reported to be 800 to 1,000 pages in length. Hundreds or thousands of pages are not necessary for a free trade bill. Hundreds or thousands of words are not necessary Read More..

What If Obamacare Subsidies Disappear?

Obamacare swamp by Eric Allie, Caglecartoons.com

By Mark Meckler

It won’t be the end of the world.

Does the Affordable Care Act really mean what it says?

The Supreme Court will be answering that question in King v. Burwell in the coming months. The question, which surfaced in the public awareness with the Gruber videos, emanates from one line in the Affordable Care Act which says that premium tax credits will be paid only to individuals who obtain medical coverage “through an Exchange established by [a] State.”

Turns out, thirty-six states didn’t create their own exchanges. Instead, they used the Federally Facilitated Marketplace, and the federal government made the executive decision to allow them to receive tax credits anyway. However, the language of the law says their residents are ineligible for subsidies, and the ones currently being paid are illegal.

If the Supreme Court sides with King, how would it affect American citizens?

A great deal. Read More..

Middle-Class Americans Will Choose a Champion with a Remedy for Pricey Obamacare

Danger Of Obamacare BasicBy John Barrasso

As the 2016 presidential race kicks off, candidates on both sides of the aisle are promising to stand up for the middle class. Voters deserve to know that anyone who champions Obamacare cannot honestly say she or he is also a champion of middle-class Americans.

The president’s health care law harms middle-class families in at least four ways, and even stands in the way of people trying to climb into the middle class. Read More..
