Trump, Carson Threaten RNC With Boycott of Next Debate

The two leading Republican presidential contenders, front-runner Donald Trump and No. 2 Ben Carson, on Thursday threatened to pull out of the third GOP debate in Colorado later this month in a dispute with CNBC and the Republican National Committee over its rules.

Trump took to Twitter after a conference call Thursday afternoon between RNC officials and top advisers to the candidates erupted into chaos over the issues, Politico reports.

Both Trump and Carson were particularly concerned about the debate’s length and whether candidates would be allowed to make opening and closing statements.

The Carson camp fired off a letter to CNBC Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Cuddy on behalf of both campaigns. The third debate will be held on Oct. 28 at the University of Colorado-Boulder.

“Mr. Trump and Dr. Carson do agree to a 120 minute debate that includes commercial breaks and opening and closing statements,” the campaign said in the letter, a copy of which was provided to Newsmax. “Mr. Trump and Dr. Carson do not, and will not, agree to appear at a debate that is more than 120 minutes long including commercials breaks.

“Further, the debate must include opening and closing statements from all the candidates,” the letter said. Read More..

Trump: I Should Have Secret Service Protection Like Obama Received

Posted on October 15th, 2015

US Secret Service Star LogoBy Kevin Cirilli and Bob Cusack

Donald Trump on Tuesday said the Secret Service should be giving him protection — and he suggested partisan politics might be why the agency isn’t providing it.

In a 90-minute interview with The Hill, the Republican presidential front-runner pointed out that he has attracted large crowds just like Barack Obama did eight years ago as a White House candidate and that by this point in the 2008 cycle, the Illinois senator had Secret Service protection.

Trump doesn’t, and he’s not happy about it.

“I want to put them on notice because they should have a liability,” he said. “Personally, I think if Obama were doing as well as me he would’ve had Secret Service [earlier]. I have by far the biggest crowds.”

Obama was given Secret Service protection on May 3, 2007. At the time, law enforcement officials acknowledged it was unusually early in the presidential cycle to grant a presidential candidate protection, but also said it was not based on specific threats. Read More..

The GOP’s Senate Worries

GOP controls Senate from www.caglecartoons.com # 155999By Charlie Cook

No matter how entertaining the circus of the presidential campaign, also remember this: Control of the Senate is definitely in play. Maggie Hassan offered a reminder Monday when the Democratic governor of New Hampshire announced that she will challenge Sen. Kelly Ayotte, a first-term Republican, in next year’s elections. Hassan had been silent about her intentions, but public polling suggests that the race would be very close; most surveys show the Republican incumbent with the narrowest of leads.

Republicans hold a 54-to-46 advantage in the Senate. This means that Democrats would need a net gain of four seats if they hold onto the White House, or five seats if they don’t (because the vice president can break a Senate tie).

The GOP’s majority is flimsy, though. Republicans have 24 seats at risk next year, compared to just 10 for the Democrats, and seven are in states that President Obama carried in 2012. One of those seven seats looks safe; Iowa’s six-term incumbent Chuck Grassley is widely seen as both unbeatable and unlikely to retire. But the other six are in real danger—incumbents Ayotte, Mark Kirk (Illinois), Ron Johnson (Wisconsin), Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania), and Rob Portman (Ohio), plus a seat in Florida held by Marco Rubio, who is running for president rather than Senate reelection.

The result: Democrats have fared well in Senate races when the presidency was up for grabs. In 2008 and 2012, they picked up eight and two seats, respectively. Their gain in 2012 wasn’t larger because they’d already picked up four seats in 2000 and six more in 2006—the two previous times this class of senators had faced voters—leaving fewer additional seats within their reach. U.S. Chamber Plans $100 Million Campaign Against Conservatives

Posted on October 8th, 2015

WAIMH Red ArrowEDITOR’S COMMENT: My how things have changed, as in the past the Chamber of Commerce and the Republicans, in general, were in lockstep together promoting conservative principles. Now, it appears that the Chamber of Commerce, if not all its members, favor big government and government handouts. So, now we have the Republicans rather divided. Those representing the establishment, who tend to agree with the Chamber, are opposed to the more free-market, conservative, Tea Party individuals, who are completely opposed to the hand of big government and all its regulations.

By Mike Flynn

While many conservatives celebrate the abrupt resignation of Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH), business groups backed by mega corporations are finalizing plans to neuter conservative lawmakers in 2016.

The U.S. Chamber will take the lead, planning to spend $100 million in 2016, a large portion of which will be devoted to defeat conservatives in Republican primaries.

Roll Call reports that “[s]ome of business’ top targets in 2016 will be right-wing, tea party candidates, the types that have bucked the corporate agenda in Congress.”

The $100 million the Chamber plans to spend this cycle is close to triple the amount the group spent in 2012, when President Obama was running for reelection. In 2014, when the Chamber launched its effort to attack conservatives in primaries, the group spent close to $70 million.

The evolution of the Chamber’s political spending goes a long way to explain the current dysfunction in Washington. The organization will devote $170 million to combat conservatives in primaries and support establishment Republicans in the general, but only around $30 million when Obama is running for reelection. GOP Establishment Wages War Against Cruz and Conservative Voters

Posted on October 7th, 2015

WAIMH Red ArrowBy John Hayward

Perhaps the Republican leadership and its Establishment apparatus don’t realize just how dangerous is the game they’re playing against conservatives, or perhaps they just don’t care. There is a part of the GOP power structure that has always been most happy to serve as the permanent minority, personally enriched by serving as minor, ineffective obstacles to the ruling Left.

They win elections by cadging millions from conservatives desperate to Do Something about the mess in Washington, then sink comfortably into that mess as though relaxing in a jacuzzi, rousing themselves only to display true fury against the occasional cage-rattling, boat-rocking conservative insurgent.

Republican leaders said they needed the Senate to get anything done, and they got it, in a historic midterm election landslide. They’ve done absolutely nothing with it.

Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV)2is still the effective Senate Majority Leader – in fact, he’s sitting prettier than ever, because he gets to watch Republicans use his grubby tactics to stymie conservative votes, while his hands remain clean.

Can anyone point to a significant event in the post-midterm Senate that would have gone much differently if Democrats were still the official majority party?

We get no votes on anything of substance to conservatives, no votes that would force Democrats to spend political capital or take uncomfortable on-the-record positions that would alienate voters. Read More..

“Uninformed” Hillary Supporters Think A “White Privilege Tax” Is A Good Idea

Posted on October 6th, 2015

WAIMH Red ArrowEDITOR’S COMMENT: What’s truly scary about these comments is that with the huge increase in immigration and the numbers of uninformed citizens continuing to grow sharply, it is possible that this sentiment may eventually dominate among the voters. Not likely, but!

By Steve Watson

Hillary Clinton supporters think that a ‘white privilege tax’ is a real policy, and what’s more they support it, saying that taxing just white people and redistributing the money among minority communities is a good idea.

Political activist Mark Dice went out on the street in San Diego, California to seek out Hillary supporters’ opinions, telling them that Clinton plans on implementing a tax on the income of all Caucasian Americans to help offset income inequality.

“Yeah. I think she should help re-distribute into the minority community.” one woman repeated, after declaring that she trusts in Hillary and trusts in Bill Clinton to be “in her ear”.

“The program is called the white privilege tax?” another woman stated in disbelief before “absolutely” agreeing it should have been implemented years ago. Read More..

Opinion: A Revolt Is Taking Place Against the “Ruling Class”

Posted on October 2nd, 2015

Change - Speedometer Races To RevolutionEDITOR’S COMMENT: While trying to reflect a little balance in my postings, I periodically feature certain articles or commentaries from the more liberal perspective, that have an interesting and timely point of view. One of these is being featured today, and provides us with the thinking of Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor in the Clinton Administration.

By Robert Reich

“He can’t possibly win the nomination,” is the phrase heard most often when Washington insiders mention either Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders.

Yet as enthusiasm for the bombastic billionaire and the socialist senior continues to build within each party, the political establishment is mystified.

Political insiders don’t see that the biggest political phenomenon in America today is a revolt against the “ruling class” of insiders that have dominated Washington for more than three decades.

In two very different ways, Trump and Sanders are agents of this revolt. I’ll explain the two ways in a moment.

Don’t confuse this for the public’s typical attraction to candidates posing as political outsiders who’ll clean up the mess, even when they’re really insiders who contributed to the mess.

What’s new is the degree of anger now focused on those who have had power over our economic and political system since the start of the 1980s. Read More..

Will Hillary Clinton’s Emails Burn the White House?

Posted on October 1st, 2015

Hillary’s emails from www.caglecartoons.com # 168346By John R. Schindler

Hillary Clinton’s email problems are already causing headaches for her presidential campaign. But within American counterintelligence circles, there’s a mounting sense that the former secretary of state may not be the only Obama administration official in trouble. This is a scandal that has the potential to spread to the White House, as well.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation can be expected to be tight-lipped, especially because this highly sensitive case is being handled by counterintelligence experts from Bureau headquarters a few blocks down Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House, not by the FBI’s Washington Field Office. That will ensure this investigation gets the needed “big picture” view, since even senior FBI agents at any given field office may only have a partial look at complex counterintelligence cases.

And this most certainly is a counterintelligence matter. There’s a widely held belief among American counterspies that foreign intelligence agencies had to be reading the emails on Hillary’s private server, particularly since it was wholly unencrypted for months.

Hillary Clinton was far from the only senior Obama appointee to play fast and loose with classified materials, according to Intelligence Community insiders. While most counterspies agree that Hillary’s practices—especially using her own server and having her staffers place classified information into unclassified emails, in violation of Federal law—were especially egregious, any broad-brush investigation into security matters are likely to turn up other suspects, they maintain. Obama’s Delusions of Competence

Obama Dishonesty and Incompetence from http://factsnotfantasy.blogspot.comBy Jack Kelly

Government works better now than probably it ever has,” President Barack Obama told the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart last month. A partial list:

– Atrocious security at the Office of Personnel Management permitted the Chinese to acquire personal data on more than 21 million federal workers, most of them applicants for security clearances. The theft of background investigation data has created a massive threat to U.S. national security that will last for decades and cost billions to mitigate.

The Chinese didn’t even need to hack into OPM’s poorly secured database to get the info, because some Chinese nationals help manage it.

– The private email server Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used, possibly illegally, to conduct official business, probably was hacked by hostile foreign intelligence services, said former Deputy CIA Director Michael Morrell.

– One central task of the Department of Homeland Security is to secure our borders. DHS isn’t doing it. Illegal immigrants comprise 3 percent of the population and, by some counts, 30 percent of the federal prison population. We spent $1.87 billion to incarcerate violent illegal immigrant felons last year, according to freelance researcher Jay Bates.

Last year, DHS released into the general population 30,558 criminal aliens who among them had almost 80,000 convictions — including 250 homicides, 386 kidnappings, 373 sexual assaults, 994 aggravated assaults. Violent felons released by DHS in 2013 committed 1,000 additional crimes. Read More..

Trump Plan Cuts Taxes for Millions

Posted on September 29th, 2015

Donald Trump Making a pointBy Monica Langley and John D. McKinnon

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump unveiled an ambitious tax plan Monday that he says would eliminate income taxes for millions of households, lower the tax rate on all businesses to 15% and change tax treatment of companies’ overseas earnings.

Under the Trump plan, no federal income tax would be levied against individuals earning less than $25,000 and married couples earning less than $50,000. The Trump campaign estimates that would reduce taxes to zero for 31 million households that currently pay at least some income tax. The highest individual income-tax rate would be 25%, compared with the current 39.6% rate.

Mr. Trump’s plan appears designed to help him, as the GOP front-runner, cement his standing as a populist—though that message is complicated by the fact that the billionaire, like other Republican leaders, would eliminate the estate tax.

“My plan will bring sanity, common sense and simplification to our country’s catastrophic tax code,” Mr. Trump said in an interview. “It will create jobs and incentives of all kinds while simultaneously growing the economy.”

To pay for the proposed tax benefits, the Trump plan would eliminate or reduce deductions and loopholes to high-income taxpayers, and would curb some deductions and other breaks for middle-class taxpayers by capping the level of individual deductions, a politically dicey proposition. Mr. Trump also would end the “carried interest” tax break, which allows many investment-fund managers to pay lower taxes on much of their compensation. Read More..
