The Battle of Washington. Hillary Has a Size-of-Government Fight on Her Hands.

Posted on June 15th, 2015

President Barack Obama and Sec. of State Hillary Clinton in the Oval Office.By Daniel Henninger

Republican activists strapping on body armor for the impending presidential campaign may get what they’ve been itching for—the Battle of Washington. That would be the long struggle between Big Government and whatever remnants of individual liberty haven’t disappeared inside the federal maw of rules, laws, programs or prosecutions.

To conservatives this is the Leviathan state, an opponent normally thrashed in 400-page books. In real life, the federal Leviathan simply expands annually. This election could be different, with the fight over the size of government finally ending up in the streets.

… After defeating the Clinton organization in 2008, the progressive left finally got full control of the Democratic Party. There is no chance they will let Mrs. Clinton even glance toward the center in the next 19 months. The Democratic left didn’t like the Clintons in 2007 and still doesn’t. Read More..

Obama Looking in a MirrorBy Noemie Emery

President Obama, wrote the Washington Post’s Greg Jaffe in a recent story about the president’s view of his country, articulates “his vision of a nation that can acknowledge and, learn from, its mistakes.” Would that this vision applied to himself.

Not only does Obama never learn from mistakes, he doesn’t think that he makes them, and he denies that they even exist. Any regrets for the way he passed healthcare? Not that you’d notice. Any regrets about leaving Iraq? Nope — he still thinks he “ended two wars,” which the other side keeps on fighting.

The conventional view of what has gone wrong — that Obama lacked experience, and that first-term senators should be viewed with suspicion — is undercut by the fact that he has had six years of experience, and failed to learn from it. At home and abroad, Obama makes mistakes over and over, with the same result, and takes nothing from them. He disses his friends, placates aggressors and seems surprised that aggressors advance and whole regions catch fire. Read More..

Greenspan: U.S. ‘Way Underestimating’ the National Debt

Posted on June 11th, 2015

Social Security SystemBy Newsmax

Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the Federal Reserve, said a Social Security Trust Fund does not exist and that the U.S. is “way underestimating” the size of its national debt.

The notion that we have a trust fund is nonsense – that trust fund has no meaning whatsoever except for the fact as an all private fund to benefit programs, if it runs out of money, you can only pay out in cash flows that come in but the probability that will happen is not particularly high,” Greenspan recently told the Fiscal Summit held by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, PJ Media reported.

The trust fund that supports Social Security’s disability program is projected to run out of money late next year, triggering automatic benefit cuts, unless Congress acts. Read More..

IRS Admits Refunding Billions On Fake Tax Returns

Posted on June 10th, 2015

WAIMH Red ArrowBy Jim Quinn

Your beloved government drone agency – the IRS – has given $11 billion of your tax dollars to criminals over three years. They make the Obamaphone program look like a well run venture. Everything the government touches turns to shit. The government is incompetent, bureaucratic, ignorant, stupid, evil, and a detriment to our lives. Despite the facts which prove how incompetent they are (Iraq War, Afghan War, Amtrak safety, Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid, SSDI, $200 trillion of unfunded liabilities) more than half the sheep in this country think the government should be given more power over our lives. What a pathetic country of spineless wimps we have become.

Just hours after being force to admit that they were hacked (by Russians apparently), an inspector general’s report shows that The IRS has rather remarkably continued to pay refunds on hundreds of thousands of fraudulent tax returns in recent years, and sent dozens of checks to the same addresses, including in Eastern Europe and elsewhere. While some progress has been made, $2.3 billion of real US taxpayer’s money was wrongfully refunded to fake US taxpayers… but with this new cyber-attack, we suspect that number will soar. We Have A Suicide Bomber in the White House

Bad signs unemployment and food stamps by Eric Allie, Caglecartoons.comBy Wayne Allyn Root

I told you so. Forget ISIS. Forget Al Queda. Forget Putin. Forget China. The worst threat to America is Barack Hussein Obama.

I’ve screamed from the highest mountains for almost seven long years now that we have a suicide bomber in the White House. Obama is dive-bombing our nation’s economy the same way that the Germanwings Airline co-pilot Andreas Lubitz crashed his plane into the ground in France two months ago.

Except this isn’t one plane and a couple hundred souls. Obama is taking the entire American economy and all of us down with him. Read More..

Here’s What the Next Gold Bull Market Will Look Like

Posted on June 5th, 2015

UBS gold bars with mirrorsBy Jeff Clark, Senior Precious Metals Analyst

We measured every bull cycle of gold stocks and found there have been eight distinct upcycles since 1975.

We also discovered something exciting: Only one was less than a double. (A second was 99.9%.)

Even more enticing is that the biggest one—a 601.5% advance in the early 2000s—occurred just after a prolonged bear market.

And our current bear market is longer than that one. Read More..

Is A Trap About To Be Sprung?

Demanded DislocationBy John Rubino for Dollar Collapse

New York artist Stephen Green’s latest painting, DemandedDislocation, combines current affairs irony with a deeply sad vision of the future. Check out the workers demanding higher wages in front of the discount robots store.

Green’s point is that two big trends are intersecting:

1) The push by workers for their fair share of record corporate profits, in the form of a higher minimum wage and better pay for jobs a rung or two up on the income ladder.

2) Breakthroughs in robotics that make it possible to automate a whole range of service and factory work. See The burger flipping robot that could put fast food workers out of a job and Meet the robots shipping your Amazon order. Read More..

A Recession Within A Recession

Recession PublicBy Michael Snyder

On Friday, the federal government announced that the U.S. economy contracted at a 0.7 percent annual rate during the first quarter of 2015.  This unexpected shrinking of the economy is being primarily blamed on “harsh” weather during the first three months of this year and on the strengthening of the U.S. dollar.  Most economists are confident that U.S. GDP will rebound back into positive territory when the numbers for the second quarter come out, but if that does not happen we will officially meet the government’s criteria for being in another “recession”.  To make sure that the numbers for Q2 will look “acceptable”, the Bureau of Economic Analysis is about to change the way that it calculates GDP again.  They are just going to keep “seasonally adjusting” the numbers until they get what they want.  At this point, the government numbers are so full of “assumptions” and “estimates” that they don’t really bear much resemblance to reality anyway.

In fact, John Williams of has calculated that if the government was actually using honest numbers that they would show that we have continually been in a recession since 2005.  That is why I am referring to this as a “recession within a recession”.  Most people can look around and see that economic conditions for most Americans are not good, and now they are about to get even worse. Obama’s Economic Disaster

President Obama LaughingBy Alan Caruba

Commenting on the rioting in Baltimore, the Wall Street Journal’s Daniel Henniger was almost to the end of his text when he said “On Wednesday morning, the year’s first-quarter GDP growth rate came in—0.02%. Next to nothing. For the length of the Obama presidency, with growth significantly below norm, unemployment for blacks aged 24 and younger has hovered between 30% and 40%. That’s the real powder key, not the police.”

Most Americans do not put the state of the economy at the heart of everything else is occurring. Instead they listen to politicians apply the blame to everything other than themselves. President Obama spent his entire first term blaming George W. Bush for the bad state of the economy he inherited, but instead of addressing it, he increased it by imposing ObamaCare, radically altering how many would be hired while others were cut to a part-time status. The bill added a number of taxes as well. Read More..

Observations on Government

I'm from The Government, I'm Here to HelpBy Monty Pelerin

Government is often not what it seems. These observations on government provide a less flattering, but more realistic, view of government than its supporters prefer.

Observations on Government

Prosperity: Government cannot create prosperity, but it can destroy it.

Keynesianism: A false body of economic thought that government supports. It is the source of government power and growth. It is the source of economists’ income and prestige. It is the very foundation supporting the myth of government. Regardless of how much economic harm is inflicted by its application, it always grows government. Read More..
