Clinton and Sanders Dominate Debate Dealing with Wall Street, Middle East, Climate Change

Hillary Debate Prep from # 169972By Newsmax

Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton clashed sharply on which presidential candidate has the tougher plan to rein in the excesses of Wall Street, putting financial reform at the center of a gripping and, at times, passionate first Democratic debate.

“My plan is more comprehensive and frankly it’s tougher,” Clinton said, referring to Wall Street reform proposals offered by Sanders.

Sanders quickly responded: “Not true.”

Clinton continued that shadow banking is the next area of potential concern and that “you may be missing the forest for the trees” by targeting big banks, as Sanders and O’Malley have urged. Her administration would not only give regulators authority to go after big banks, they may also pursue “sending the executives to jail” if needed, she said.

Sanders said the 2016 presidential election is about “whether we can mobilize our people to take back our government from a handful of billionaires” and said Americans will vote for a democratic socialist—how he describes himself—if they understand what it means and that he is not part of the “casino capitalist process.”

Between clashes over policy, there was also a moment of camaraderie between the former secretary of state and the senator, as Sanders sided with her over the scrutiny of the private e-mail account she used while at the State Department. “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn e-mails,” he said. Clinton responded by extending her hand toward Sanders, who grabbed it and shook it. Read More..

Ben Carson: Obama ‘Would’ve Had a Seizure’ If Oregon Gunman Killed Muslims – Newsmax  …  “Dr. Ben Carson says President Barack Obama would have suffered a ‘seizure’ if the gunman who targeted Christians as he shot up an Oregon college last week had singled out Muslims instead. ‘He would’ve had a seizure over it,’ Carson told Steve Malzberg in an exclusive interview that aired Tuesday on Newmax TV.  Remember, he’s been very reticent to mention Christians in the Middle East who are being massacred as well.'”

“‘I’m not sure why he has so much trouble actually articulating the words. It does make you wonder a little bit.’ In the Oregon tragedy, Chris Harper-Mercer, 26, reportedly asked his victims if they were Christians before executing his English professor and eight students at Umpqua Community College in rural Roseburg.”

Pennsylvania Governor Calls For 16 Percent Increase on State Income Tax – Daily Caller  …   “Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf released his budget plan Tuesday which calls for steep tax hikes in an attempt to balance the budget without major spending cuts. The Democrat’s proposal includes a 16 percent increase in the state income tax, changing the rate from 3.07 percent to 3.57 percent, which the governor says would not impact seniors since it doesn’t affect retirement income. The administration says, if passed, the plan would raise $1.4 billion in the current fiscal year and an addition $2.4 by the time the 2017 fiscal year is completed.”

“In addition to closing the $1.2 structural deficit in the Keystone state, it would allocate $400 million in funds toward the education system. ‘Despite the fact that the majority of hard-working Pennsylvanians cannot afford Gov. Wolf’s massive tax and spending plans, he continues to push for them,’ Pennsylvania Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati said in a statement. ‘Not once – but twice now – the General Assembly has met our constitutional obligation to pass a balanced budget, yet Gov. Wolf refused to sign them because they didn’t include his billions of dollars of tax increases.'”

U.S. Government Provides Citizenship Test Study Guides In Spanish – Daily Caller  …   “Immigrants looking to become naturalized U.S. citizens can now study for the civics portion of the test in Spanish, courtesy of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Aspiring citizens can find study sheets, flash cards and audio tools in Spanish at to help them prepare for the 100-question civics test, which must be taken in English. ‘Prepare for your naturalization test – take our interactive Quizzes in Spanish!’ a separate October USCIS blog post promoting the material says. Complete interactive tests in Spanish and other languages are on the way.”

“The Obama administration is in the midst of a massive push to market citizenship to immigrants and refugees ahead of the 2016 election. The White House Task Force on New Americans, created by executive order in 2014, is behind a series of new initiatives aimed at ensuring they have the tools, support and encouragement they need to apply for citizenship.”

Putin Moves In as Obama’s Syrian Strategy Against ISIS Collapses

Posted on September 28th, 2015

Confronting Putin, Obama from # 153175EDITOR’S COMMENT: As we discussed over a year ago, it was obvious to everyone who wasn’t an Obama fanatic that Obama’s supposed ‘strategy’ was actually ‘no strategy’ at all or a delaying strategy, that had no intention whatsoever of trying to defeat ISIS, as confirmed by the recent resignation of John Allen, Obama’s “war czar,” who quit in disgust because of micromanaging from his national security aides. Of course, these unqualified aides and political hacks were not acting independently, but were following Obama’s and Susan Rice’s directions.

By Rick Moran

When you pretend to fight a war, the results are predictable; failure.

A very sharp analysis of the Syrian situation from the New York Observer’s John Schindler who lays out a case that Russian influence in the Middle East is on the rise while America’s is being frittered away by the incompetents at the White House.

How incompetent?

The forces Mr. Putin has just deployed to Syria are impressive, veteran special operators backed by a wing of fighters and ground attack jets that are expected to commence air strikes on Assad’s foes soon. They are backed by air defense units, which is puzzling since the Islamic State has no air force, indicating that the Kremlin’s true intent in Syria has little to do with the stated aim of fighting terrorism and is really about propping up Russia’s longtime client in Damascus.

The White House is left planning “deconfliction” with Moscow—which is diplomatic language for entreating Russians, who now dominate Syrian airspace, not to shoot down American drones, which provide the lion’s share of our intelligence on the Islamic State. The recent meeting on Syrian developments between Mr. Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who clearly finds dealing with the Russian strongman preferable to parleying with President Obama, indicates where power is flowing in today’s Middle East. Nobel Panel Saw Obama Peace Prize as ‘Mistake,’ New Book Claims – Washington Times  … “The former director of Norway’s Nobel Institute revealed this week that he regrets the committee’s decision to give the 2009 Nobel Peace award to President Obama. Geil Lundestad, director at the institute for 25 years, said in his just-published memoir that he and the committee had unanimously decided to grant the award to Mr. Obama just after his election in 2009 more in hopes of aiding the American president to achieve his goals on nuclear disarmament, rather than in recognition of what Mr. Obama had already accomplished. Looking back over Mr. Obama’s presidency, Mr. Lundestad said, granting him the award did not fulfill the committee’s expectations.”

“‘Even many of Obama’s supporters thought that the prize was a mistake, Mr. Lundestad said. In the book, he expressed regret that the decision had been based in a hope for the future rather than recognition of past accomplishments, and that their expectations for Mr. Obama were not fulfilled.”

TrumpMania: GOP Debate Sets CNN Ratings Record – Breitbart  …  “Regardless of how well you think Republican frontrunner Donald Trump performed at Wednesday night’s CNN debate, there is no question he is generating unprecedented interest and excitement. Last night CNN earned its highest ratings ever. I could make a joke here about that not being a high bar but the network wasn’t always a ratings failure and that makes this record rather remarkable.”

“This kind of sustained interest and excitement is good for the overall Party. Now that the RNC has taken some control over these debates, the process is not the horror show it was last time. By September of 2012, there had already been around a dozen debates and 200 questions that were designed only to keep Obama in the White House.”

Interior Secretary Refuses To Testify On EPA Toxic Mine Spill – Daily Caller  …  “Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell is refusing to testify before Congress about her department’s ongoing investigation of the massive toxic mine spill caused by EPA workers last month. Despite an invitation Republican lawmakers to get Jewell to come before the committee Thursday to testify on the Interior’s investigation, the former CEO of REI has declined. Instead, Jewell’s staffers sent an unsigned statement to House lawmakers. ‘Despite nearly every one of its agencies having jurisdiction over lands impacted by the spill and responsibilities to uphold for impacted communities, including tribes, Interior has been nearly invisible in the wake of the spill,’ Wyoming Republican Rep. Cynthia Lummis told The Daily Caller News Foundation in an emailed statement.”

“The Interior Department has been tasked with releasing a technical report on the EPA-caused mine spill in August where agency contractors accidentally unleashed 3 million gallons of wastewater into Colorado’s Animas River. But the department has largely been silent on its probe into the Gold King Mine spill. Interior told House lawmakers they “would be happy to provide the [lawmakers] with a briefing of that report after its release,” according to the statement to the House provided to TheDCNF by the department. Their response has only frustrated lawmakers. ‘Right now, the public is being left in the dark. Refusing to appear before the committees and failing to even offer to send a representative on the department’s behalf is deeply concerning.'”

COMMENT: Once again, one should ask why the Republican leadership is being so kind to the Secretary of the Interior by issuing an “invite to appear” before their committee. They should and still can issue a subpoena for her to appear, as part of their efforts to get tough with these various Obama administration minions, particularly those, who have lied or caused substantial damage!

James Dale Davidson: Current Global Crash Is a ‘Rerun of 1929’ – Newsmax  …  The current global stock-market crash is eerily reminiscent of the Wall Street crash of 1929, investment expert and author James Dale Davidson told Newsmax TV. ‘What we’re seeing, if I could say it this way, is a rerun of 1929 with the main crash falling in Shanghai rather than in Wall Street,’ he told ‘Newsmax Prime.’ ‘If you’re not scared, you’re not watching,’ he said. ‘Since the last time I was on Newsmax TV on the 11th of August to discuss the Chinese devaluation, which was a small step, I said it was only the beginning of a major change that was going on. And since that time, $5 trillion have gone to money heaven, which is a significant change,’ he said.”

“As to what to expect in the future, he explained that the answer can be found in the past. Specifically, the Wall Street crash of 1929. ‘If you look back at these economic crises and stock market collapses that are associated with depressions, the first stage is what we’ve already seen, which is the big fall off in commodity prices,’ he said. ‘We’re into this same kind of cycle as it relates to the collapse of world demand, the fact that we’ve had commodity prices plunging,’ he said. ‘If you go back to December of 2011, the price of iron was $190 a metric ton. Now it’s down to $44. We remember the price of oil being up at $140 some dollars and now it’s the low $40,’ he said. ‘This is a very significant indication of weakness in the global economy.'”

As Stocks Melt Trump Tweets: America Is Too Tied to China – Breitbart  …  “As the American stock market opened to lows unseen since the 2008 economic meltdown, Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump took to Twitter to refresh his longstanding political message that the American economy allows ‘China and Asia to dictate the agenda.’ ‘As I have long stated, we are so tied in with China and Asia that their markets are now taking the U.S. market down. Get smart U.S.A.’; ‘When people start losing their savings & home value, they will be begging Trump to fix the economy.’”

“Regardless of how this stock day ends, this startling reminder that ‘so goes China, so goes America’ is bound to unsettle many Americans and play into Trump’s decades-long message about our country being too reliant on China and other countries.”

Biden Would Have WH Largely ‘Rooting for Him’ Over Hillary – Politico  …  “In interviews, current and former White House staffers say that as Biden has ratcheted up the seriousness of his explorations, including having aides reach out to former top political operatives for President Barack Obama to gauge interest, the situation looks very different from when they’d been assuming she’d be the only real Democratic candidate in 2016. They had convinced themselves that she could be the heir to Obama and the one to protect his legacy, and they were excited about it. A Biden run would upend that.”

“‘I don’t know what the official line will be,’ said one West Wing staffer, ‘but you will have a lot of people in the building rooting for him.’ ‘Even if their mind is with Clinton,’ the staffer added, reflecting feelings of others heard in the White House, ‘their heart is with the vice president. It’s not so much lingering animosity against Clinton from the 2008 campaign that’s dividing loyalties, but the intense affection so many of them have developed for Biden as part of Obama’s team, and the personal connection he’s formed with so many of them.”
